Dr. Henry joined Partners In Health Malawi in June 2024. A medical doctor with a specialization in Public Health Management, he brings 24 years of experience in health systems strengthening and service delivery, alongside 15 years of dedicated project management expertise.
Professional Background
Dr. Henry’s career is defined by a commitment to prison health reforms and rural healthcare delivery in Malawi:
- International Agency Experience: Worked with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) projects and prison reforms.
- National Health Leadership: Led the delivery of curative services at the Ministry of Health Headquarters and established the Prisons Health Systems during his tenure as Chief Medical Officer for the Malawi Prisons Service.
- District & Mission Health: Served as a District Health Officer (DHO) in rural Malawi and as a Medical Officer and Primary Health Care Advisor at Likuni Mission Hospital.
- Academic Contributions: He has co-authored five publications and presented at several high-level global forums and conferences.
Strategic Oversight & Fellowships
In his role at PIH, Henry leverages his extensive background in public health management to drive large-scale health systems improvements. He is a Founding Fellow for the College of Public Health Physicians for the East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Health Sciences (ECSA-CHS), reflecting his leadership status within the regional medical community.
