Fabien Munyaneza

Fabien Munyaneza is a dedicated global health leader with 16 years of extensive experience in program management, evaluation, and data-driven decision-making. Since 2020, he has led the Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation (RM&E) and Medical Informatics departments at Partners In Health (Abwenzi Pa Za Umoyo) in Malawi, driving impactful, evidence-based health programs.

Professional Background

Fabien’s career spans multiple countries and specialized health domains, focusing on health systems strengthening and digital health:

• Global Program Leadership: Prior to PIH, he led health programs at VSO International in Rwanda, supporting initiatives across Sierra Leone, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
• Geospatial & Systems Analysis: He dedicated eight years to conducting geospatial analysis in Rwanda’s health sector to enhance healthcare delivery and fortify health systems.
• Academic Leadership: Since 2021, he has served as a preceptor at the University of Global Health Delivery in Rwanda and has supervised numerous master’s students in the field.
• Public Sector Experience: His earlier career includes serving the Government of Rwanda as a land manager.

Strategic Oversight & Research Excellence

In his current role, Fabien oversees the integration of data and research into clinical operations. His work ensures that PIH’s interventions—spanning HIV, oncology, maternal health, and non-communicable diseases—are monitored for maximum impact.

A prolific researcher, he has contributed significantly to global health literature with:

• 45 conference abstracts presented at global forums.
• Expertise in complex project management across diverse teams of national and international staff.
